I just got finished watching a movie called 'To Be Fat Like Me'.
It was about a beautiful and popular female jock, who when injuring her leg, and looses her scholarship , disguises herself as a fat person to win a competition, so that she can have money for school. She deals with the just plain nasty prejudice and personal family issues.
I beleive this is based on a true story. I know that the prime time news shows have a tendency to go undercover with ideas like this, but I beleive that I remember that a high school student actually did this. I don't beleive I ssae the video, but I do remember seeing new shows doing a segment on it.
Did anyone catch this movie on Lifetime? Or do you remember seeing the video of it ? I thought it was a compelling movie that does make you think WHY?
There were a few comments in the movie I thought were cool...but my favorite was at the end
"The world will always tell you who you are, untill you tell them."

Haven't seen the movie Enchant as we dont have Lifetime over here, but I have seen a TV show were the former owner of 'The Body Shop' ( her name escapes me just now lol) went under cover as different people IE a fat person, an old woman, a man, a down and out, a black woman etc... to see what prejudice is like in Britain...it was a very interesting and a rather eye opening show. The quote from the movie is very apt.

Interesing enough, I am sitting here reviewing the boards and the Real girl who inspired teh movie came on News (Fox News) Her name is Alley Schimidt . She said that the girls shunned her and the boys openly rediculed her. She says she is glad she did it, but will never do it again, it was just too much emotionally.

Yeah. I remember I had a crush on a 16 year old. I was 13 and we liked one another but since she wasn't exactly hollywood and her last name was Leech it was open season and I didn't do anything. Wish I did though. But -shrugs- I don't know. Yeah guys can be harsh and people can be too.
