so last friday I was getting ready to sit down and watch Ghost Whisperer. Hot chocolate made, boy in bed, everything was going great, then I turned on the t.v, and nothing except a whining noise came from the darn thing. My t.v. died. NOt a good thing either becasue Santa is getting boy an xbos 360 for Christmas. So off to the store we go and came home with a new t.v. A 42 inch plasma t.v. Merry Christmas!!! Then hubby gets laid off for a week. Lovely.

I hear ya Shoo. And isn't always when you need it the most that it goes on ya. My inlaws just bought a new stove and fridge. The poor woman was cooking with only one element working on her old stove. Darn near wore out the microwave.
The thing that got me about buying a new t.v, they don't sell the regular ones anymore. Or at least not pushing them. Everything we saw was for plasma, LCD or projection. Oh I'm sure we could of bought a regular set, but come 2009 all the American networks are switiching over to Hi-def broadcasts and the regular t.v's aren't compatable.

We are having the same thing happen here, some regions of the UK are already digital only transmition and every where is going Hi-def by 2012 I think.

You know, you would think that the networks would give people a little more time. T.v's aren't cheap. And from what I heard, they're not even going to warn people, just switch over. Only way I know is that the salesman told us.
