I'm a bit behind on posting my review, but it's here none the less.
Lauren Harris / Iron Maiden
June 12th, 2008
Blossom Music Center(Cuyahoga Falls, OH)
The concert was amazing!
I went with my dad, his friend, and his friend's girlfriend. She had never been to a concert before, and wasn't sure if she was going to like it or not, only to end up having a complete blast, like the rest of us.
The traffic getting there sucked, so we arrived a bit late, and the place was packed!
The most people I've ever seen there.
We ended up having to park out in the field.
We went in, during the middle of Lauren Harris' set.
Not bad, but not great either.
Walking around listening to it, I just tuned it out, but down in the pit watching the last couple of songs wasn't bad. Then again, everything is better live, isn't it?
After that, we went and made our way to the lawn for a bit while they set up the stage.
When we did return to the pit, we easily made our way over to Janick's side of the stage, with only one row of people in front of us.
I was surprised at how small the pit was. It was deep enough for maybe about 5 - 7 people, and the barrier between the pit and the stage was barely wide enough for security to stand there. So, we were incredibly close.
At this point I was getting excited, both for the show to start, and to see the set and backdrops.
Every other Maiden show I've gone to, I've had a general idea of the set list, and knew which Eddie's they were going to use, ect...
But for this show, I didn't want to be spoiled on anything, so I went in blind.
And everything blew me away! There were some moments where I stood there for a few seconds a bit awe struck.
The show started about quarter to nine.
The lights went down and Doctor Doctor started playing. (Maidens unofficial start up song)
After this, there was a video on the screnes of the band boarding the plane and other things while they plaed Trannsylvania.
Then Churchill's speach started up, and the stage was unveiled to begin the two hours of pure awesomeness!
As usual the band was lively and all over the place.
We mostly had Janick just in front of us, or a bit to the right, with Steve off a bit to the left. Then Adrian and Dave would come over a bit, and of course Bruce was all over the stage. Nicko came over before the encore and after ths show.
So, we got to see a bit from all of them.
Some bits about the show:
The powerslave setup was awesome!
They had a few differen back drops, all of which were amazing!
As per usual, during Trooper, Bruce came out in the Mountie coat and waves around the two flags. Then during Rhime he had on his old sailor coat. The song was good, but I could've done without the fog during the instrumental part. It was cool with the blue and purple lights, but it was so think, I was joking on it.
During Number of the Beast they had a cool devil in the upper platform over on our side. They also started the fire during this song, and you could really feel the heat.
Iron Maiden finished it all off. It began with a pharos Eddie above Nicko, which opened up to giant mummy Eddie.
That ended things off for the break before the encores.
They came back, and out came the Somewhere in Time Eddie. Running about the stage, and messing with Dave and Janick.
Amazing show!
Nothing else to say but that.
