Has anyone been infected with the tomatoe salmonella outbreak? I think my husband got a hold of a bad tomatoe somewhere...he was ill for a couple days and is all of a sudeen doing better...I mean it could have been something else...but he did consume tomatoes before it all happened.
I do wonder if the manufatures of ketchups and sauces are taking certain precautions to make sure they do not taint there products.

That's a good thought, but I think for ketchups and stuff they have to boil the tomatoes, and wouldn't that kill the samonella? Lol, on a funny note, years ago when I worked in a restaurant we had this older couple that came in every weekend. We new his name was because she always said his name, lol, so we named her ella. Sam and Ella.

I haven't been infected nor has anyone else in my family. We have noticed, however, that store shelves are bare of the tainted ones and fast food restaurants have also taken the precaution of losing their tomatoes. I remember when we went to McDonalds last week, they had a sign on both windows of the drive thru, mentioning about the salmonella out break.
I'm glad the large companies like grocery stores and fast food restaurants, along with real restaurants, are listening to what's going on, and are actually doing something to prevent anything from happening. Even if, they're only doing it so they won't get sued or anything.

I haven't gotten sick from the salmonella outbreak, but I think that's mainly because I hate tomatoes... My family hasn't either- we went to a restaurant a few days ago and the person said, "We aren't serving tomatoes right now, so just know your sandwiches won't have them on them." (This is the best time for me to eat food! Nothing has tomatoes on it, I usually request for things to have the tomatoes off! <3) They've banned places from selling/serving tomatoes for miles around here, I don't think you could find a tomato right now in my state...
I'm glad your husband is feeling better, Enchant. I hate it when I get food poisoning...

I hope it doesn't start appearing in Europe. I'd be so sad if I had to stop eating tomatoes

I agree Kmylove, I too love tomatoes...I wonder what is causing this. It reminds me of a plot of a book I read...Tomaotes were the cause of half the human population being wiped out.....With all the somenelia floating around, I am wondering if we arae just not doing things properly or something more sinister is going on....

Scary I always thought salmonella was something that only affected eggs so I was pretty shocked to hear that tomatoes are now affeted by it as well. Specially since it seems harder to take any precautions with tomatoes than it is with eggs.

I always thought salmonella came from fish, I guess I was wrong lol
Actually, I read a few days ago, that they believe its now from either farmers or warehouses instead. They believe that there is something in maybe the warehouses or something that is affecting the food, mainly because some people are still getting sick, even after the bad ones were pulled off the shelf.
