As the famine stricken child crawls toward a UN food camp. The vulture is waits for the child to die so that it can eat it. Very rare do I come across an image that has a powerful impact. But when I was surfing the net, I just had to post it. There is more to this image... The story goes that a photographer named, Kevin Carter, after getting his photo just left the child there. No one knows who or what ever happened to that child. But we do know that 3 months after it was taken, Kevin Carter committed suicide due to depression. Would things turned out differently if he helped that child, perhaps mother nature cursed him. I do not know....what I do know is that that image won a Pulitzer in 1994. Do you know of any powerful images with a story? Please post them.

I can't stand that image. I don't mean it as it's stupid or anything. It is just a depressing image to me because I know there is nothing I can do at the time to help. www.worldpressphoto.org/50years/flash.htmlThis site, however, has many powerful images about it.

I don't know any impressive images besides the one you posted Enchant. I can't really bear to look at it, it's far too sad, though I think sad is a little word. It angers me to know that the photographer didn't do anything to help that girl and he only cared about his image (this doesn't mean I don't feel sorry for the fact that he killed himself)

I just really thought that made a big impact on me. No idea why or how, it just did.

I can not understand how any human being could have been so heartless as to leave that poor child there in that state, a little kindness could have been the difference between he/she living or not. I would have scooped that youngster up and carried he/she to the aid camp, if the child was destined to die at least it would have been with decent human presence around it.... Then again do we really know the truth about the picture, still shots ( and moving one's come to that ) are easily 'set up' the picture might not be all it seems... either way its a very powerful image. *sigh*
