We have the Ashtabula Joint Vocational School(AJVS) here that you can go into for your Junior and Senior year if you're from the county. They offer a lot of great programs. And if you go, at the end of your senior year, not only will you have your High School diploma, but you'll be trained and certified in a certain area. You can begin work right from there or continue with college..
I have two options, I can go to the Vo-ed, or I can stay at my High School.
And I really can't decide which I should do.
The field I want to go into in architectural engineering, and they have a really good program on drafting there that I could go into for my Junior and Senior year of High School.
I didn't even consider going before. But all sophomores have to go on a trip to it for one day where they take three of the classes for 50 minutes each. It's just something they do. And ours was last week. Since then, I have been considering going.
Vo-Ed
If I go to the vo-ed, I'll be leaving all my friends behind (Except for the others going to the vo-ed and the people I already know there) But even though I'd be leaving my friends, I would be getting some training in a field before I start college. (And I'd still have all my main classes like english and math and things in the first half of the day)
We have a Computer Aided Drafting(CAD) class in our school that I am in. But that class is solely on computers. At the vo-ed I'd be doing things digitally and by hand. And the class if far more advanced. (For one, I know more about what I'm doing on the program than the teacher does.. )
High School
If I stayed in High School, I'd still have most of my friends and would be familiar with the place. (Though, that's not my biggest concern)
But there are many classes at the High School I want to do. I still want my choir class and French.
And I still would be in CAD for atleast another year, which I'd be doing that even if I were at the Vo-ed, just at the Vo-ed it'd be on a bit of a Higher level.(Not to mention I'd be earning college credits for when I do go to college)
I'd be doing somewhat of the same work either way if I was in the drafting course or just taking CAD. It's just what leverl I'd be doing it at. And I do plan to go to college either way..
So, do I leave my friends and the extra classes I want behind to work for my future career, or do I stay in High School and take all the extra classes I want and get to enjoy that.
I know no matter what, what anyone says isn't going to make a difference because over all it is my choice, but I was just curious as to what others would say...
