Imagine being called into your child's school, because your they didn't wear a belt. Then being told if it happened again that they would be forced to suspend them. This happened to us. The ironic thing was a students poster hung up on the wall about Thomas Edison and his invention of Electricity.
We are suppose to be America land of the free. Yet, I am not seeing it much anymore. Our public schools are no longer public, but a uniform dictatorship. Instead of nurturing the minds of our children, and teaching them to be who they are and focusing on education, the schools are dictating and placing fear into who they are and could be. This to me is a form of abuse.
A child is punished if he/she has no belt, or a small image on a pair of socks instead of a solid color. A child cannot express their personal views because it might infringe on another's personal religious beliefs. How on earth are our children suppose to grow up as individuals, if they have no way of expressing themselves? Seriously,What do we think we are teaching our children? Dress the same and your grades will be better.Keep your religious beliefs the foundation of who you are to yourself? Is this the lessons we want to teach our children, to conform, be like everyone else? You are what you wear? You cannot view your personal beliefs! what happen to being able to express yourself and freedom of choice? The very things that make us who are suppose to be.
Who are we? We are a country thats being told what to wear, how to think, and what to feel. We are a land, where the pursuit of happiness and the liberties of man are being stifled. We send our loved ones , our spouses, sons, daughters, brothers and sisters to war, so that we are able to have freedoms, like freedom of choice and expression, yet we are restricting our children from it.
The sad thing is, we as parents don't have much choice either. Many families can't afford to buy school uniforms, or pulling two jobs just to keep a roof over the head, food in the bellies and cloths on the back. I personally feel that if the state wants to make a school uniformed then they should provide its citizens with a voucher for the uniforms or provide some kind of program that supplies them. Not punish those children who's families don't have the money to buy uniforms.
We as a society are loosing our moral values. Technology has become the babysitter of the future. Dress codes have become the back bone of education and respect has come at the base of materialistic possession...the very fabric of America has come unraveled, and the government, instead of actually working to fix it has become a dictatorship and has endorsed it. Instead of we the people..it has become do as I say.
Our President has lied to us, our government has failed us, and our school boards have embarrassed us, but worst is ...we let them.
