O geez go to a library and get a book. You keep screaming that its everyone elses fault you dont know trig or algebra. For 2 years I didnt find any trouble learning at all, the resources are easily accesible you jsut need the time. Did Bush steal all your time? No but what I'm sayins is simple. No Child left Behind makes it so that people arn't anything more then money. Plano ISD and Richardson ISD have been bragging and fighting one another since I was a small child about how much money they can get and how much better there school's are. Yet, it all equates to money. Actually, I'd have to hire a tutor. My disability doesn't really lend it's self to something like that from just reading. I need a person to actually go through with it at least one time and then I do it with them kinda to make sure. That is it. No more then 5 min's. Yet, never did. So if a student wishes to learn and is actually WANTING to learn. Yet, the Teacher doesn't teach well or the system that I'm in doesn't allow that? It's the kids fault?! There there to teach. And, I can't just go and read it. I can't. I don't learn that way Volt. I'm not like you. You can of course put the book in front of me but I won't nor will I retain the information. That isn't my fault. It's something that happened. Thought school's were to be places to learn. I guess not. I'm just saying that is my experience. Where I was I was a dollar sign and nothing more. Pure and simple. I know EXACTLY how the game there was played. Heck, I played it. lol. But, when it came to the area's that I needed help in I did want help.

Sounds like you enjoy being a victim. You keep saying 'i played it' then 'I wanted to learn'. Sounds like if you played it and wanted to learn it wouldnt be too hard to go the whole nine yards, say actually learning. Maybe your 'playing it' interfered with your 'learning it'. Who knows. My point is you cant blame everyone else for your choices. I happen to have a learning disability, which makes me not want to sit still for 5 minutes. Do I go scream at democrats and say "your 40 years of power has warped my mind", or do I go to a teacher and say "I wanted to learn but you didnt let me!".

Heh. No Child Left Behind.
I've heard teachers refer to it as No School Left Standing.
There are bad teachers and there are bad schools.
There are different learning styles, and there are a lot of schools that don't cater to them all, some to none. I was lucky and ended up in a good school. Sometimes I feel guilty because I didn't try as hard as some other people probably would have, but I wouldn't have traded it to someone else.

Okay. I'm going to go make a thread about the school system and the no child left behind deal.
I also realize that was taking the thread a bit off topic. So back to the New Orlean's and what happened down south. Which is more then just Louisiana.
Oh, and it was asked earlier in the thread why was New Orlean's talked about so much? Maybe because it's a jewel to the south.
The West has Las Vegas and the north east has New York. We have New Orleans. A place filled with music and a pretty rich history. Although yes there is alchohol and other things. But, that doesn't really interest me as the music and well the history and of course the French Quarters.

I'll admit, we're shallow and pathetic people. . . One of my friends and I freaked because most of the books in a series we read are set in New Orleans. The author was pretty cool when it happened. She set up a donations thing in one the character's names and a bunch of people donated money and such. I haven't read any of the post-katrina books yet, but I know she doesn't just continue on like nothing happened.

Yeah, Ann's homes that are in those witches and Vampire series are real places. The Mayfair home does exist. That is also where her husband Stan died. And if it is Ann Rice yes just about all her novels. Except, the first in the "jesus" series and her retelling of Beauty series. Even Belinda and Exit to Eden somewhat touch New Orlean's. I was watching the special that SCI-FI had about Voodoo and hoodoo. New Orlean's IS the capital of that. So it seems to me that is probably another reason. The fact it's a mecca for that type of religion. Fits with the mood of New Orleans and that state.

Gah, we get back on topic, and now I wanna go off topic again. . .
No, not Rice. Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series.
Anyway, I don't think Katrina was some divine punishment from on high.

It was natural. There are human beings there because its the only port on that river. And, it's to much of a hassle to go to Galveston. THAT is why they developed New Orlean's as a port City.
Oh and I know the seriers. lol just was wondering.
Also to note alot of factory jobs here in the USA move once the City's tax exemption goes up. I know that was happening at where I was when was in High School. That is when they move.
So to be someone that can't get a really great paying job because of college or the fact that they don' want to work for minimum wages I'd imagine the Port job's pay well AND it's a surrence that they will be there in 20 years. Unlike other "factory" type of jobs. I know port's arn't a factory but I'd say that it's kinda like that in some respects.

Anyway, I don't think Katrina was some divine punishment from on high. I dont think so either, then again its the 'hero' of the media who got up and said (showing a true amount of intelligence) that Bush bombed the levis! Then we got the mayor saying New Orlenas needs to be a chocolate city! So we have another cute dilemma. The media must back him up, since Bush is responsible for all bad things (say his name instead of cursing its quite fun) But then again, they are blatantly racist! Its a real bad mess, and its not being mentioned by the media since most of the people down there are getting 2,000 dollar checks every 3 months. They got what they wanted, and the media pulled out before it blew up in their faces! fairly typical.

Okay I don't think that the whole "chocolate city" is necessarly a bad comment. I think of black people and New Orlean's they are a VERY heavy thing. Even back when it was owned by the French. Always had a high black number. Plus, it's also the largest Wicca and Pagan religion's. It's there "mecca" sorta speak. And, the whole Voodoo and Hoodoo came from the tribes down from Africa. So -shrugs- to me it's just how it is. Black's are a part of that society. I dont' think you should bash a guy for making that case or pointing that out. But, we are HEAVILY PC country. And, typcially anything like that is going to be taken and instantly he's/she's a racist.

Aaron you say this, but youve never been to gary, or new orleans, where you walk into a restuarant and from the glances and stares know your not welcome because of your skin color.

Aaron you say this, but youve never been to gary, or new orleans, where you walk into a restuarant and from the glances and stares know your not welcome because of your skin color. I'v been to south dallas. I was there because I know a black kid and his Uncle was there. We all have area's and such of towns that I would say normally are ruled by certain people. Now doesn't totally mean those sections are bad. While South Dallas gang's and some such probably would shoot you if you didn't have a black person with you...not all are like that. But, the chances of walking into an area and them feeling that way are pretty good. But, so is that everywhere.

But its not normal Aaron, its not. Walking into south dallas and ahving to feel like getting a black person with you or your shot isnt the way normal people want to live. You keep going into this rhetoric about the 1950's when you cant even get a hold on the 1990's.

I don't see anything problem with having certain area's for certain people if that is how they want to be. Although I don't think they should be poor or be denied. You wanna know something? I live in the "POOR" area of town. Wanna know WHY I live in the "GHETTO" of Plano, Texas? Because I like the fact that my side of the city doesn't change every week. I like it that there isn't a constant construction or that there is always traffic. -shrugs- so you wanna kick me out of my poor house? Whatever. Volt you have alot of high talk but you don't have much of anything else. Until you realize that you won't know much of anything.

Says the guy who doesnt have to wear a knife when he goes somewhere in the neighborhood. No im not in sunshine happiness here, where people get killed all the time. Do you know how close to Gary I am? Do you honestly know?
And about that age comment, its your last. Im filing a complaint with the Admin since the means to hide my age is my right under proboards, and I did not give it out.
