Utopia Versus Dystopia
A utopian society is an idealistic society where the ideals seem far reaching. World peace, illnesses removed, society is happy, its a perfect world, but there would never be conflict or challeneg...
In a dystopian society the ideal society is acheived, such as eliminating war, desease, poverty, illnesses, but in return have given up there actual humanity..things like morality and compassion to acheive it.
Science fiction and fantasy both have instilled both types of worlds into our culture...here's a hypothetical question.....
If you were to live in one of these which would it be and Why? And which do you see earth actually acheiving?

ok, if I had to choose, I'd say a Utopian Society. there may not be any challenges, of a sort, but there is still freedom of choice, freedom of speech, and freedom of thought. if you wanted to, you could go and climb a mountain. that's the whole point of a utopian society, it's perfect, you can do what you want. Which is what makes it impossible.
For a Utopian society to exist, everyone would have to agree on what it was, or at least compromise so that everyone is happy. we're humans. How likely do you think this is?
I think, if either happen, a dystopian society is MUCH more likely. all it requires is some sort of mass Brainwashing. If someone got america entirly under their control, and then managed to take a fair bit of the world using a sort of blitzkrieg tactic, they would be too powerful for any sort of defence to be properly organised in time for the rest of the world. It's a gri thought, but I think we're safe there, because so many countries are watching america at the moment it'd be noticed if half the population stopped arguing..
No offence at all meant to any Americans who read this; I have no Idea what your country is actually like, I know loads of really nice people from there, I'm just basing anything I say as regards to your country on what I hear here, which is rarely good, I'm sorry to say.
yeah I would never choose a dystopia anyway. reading 1984, Brave new world and We was enough to put me off the Idea forever!
