Any Nightwish fans here? They're basically an opera metal band, and they are, in my opinion, the best band I've ever heard. I was lucky enough to see them when they came to Chicago, and they put on an awesome live performance. Unfortunately they cancelled they're U.S. tour this year, but I'm hoping they will reshedule. Would love to see them again.

Operatic Power Metal is one of my favourite genres of music, and Nightwish is no small player in that genre. Elvenpath, Moondance (I think that's it's name), Beauty and the Beast... many good songs.

It is Moondance. Sooooo many good songs.....
I have a live instrumental version of "Crimson Tide and Deep Blue Sea" and it's very very good as well.
I'm also into the bands After Forever (which is a bit like Nightwish) and Within Temptation (ever listen to either?).

I'd have to say I haven't. Were I allowed to download music, I'd sample some of their songs. Currently unable to at the moment. The closest band I can relate to Nightwish that I am familiar with is either Blind Guardian (their new stuff) or Rhapsody. (You can't mention power metal without Blind Guardian being brought up, heh.)

I'm very familiar with Blind Guardian, and I've heard some of Rhapsody's stuff (those guys are absolutely nuts). It's too bad there's a big ol' ocean between me and these good bands (although Stratovarius (you've heard of them, right?) is coming to Chicago in September!)

Yeah, I heard that they were reunited recently. I'd love to see them in concert. And yeah, it sucks that most of the great metal bands tour Europe almost exclusively.

I know. Nightwish was supposed to come back to the US this year (and Sonata Arctica was going to open for them), but something didn't work out and they're not coming....

Sonata Arctica's pretty good too, whenever I'm in the mood for melodic slow metal. Damn shame...

They're not entirely slow. Ever hear their song "8th Commandment?" That's pretty fast.
What a shame though. Would have loved to see them.

I'm a great big Nightwish fan. I don't think there's any song I don't know. They just so rock.

That they do. I just saw the "From Wishes To Eternity" DVD, and I loved it! This band can do no wrong. Well, almost no wrong. ;D
