I came across this article and it got me to thinking.
When I was younger...I always pictured clowns as a happy entity of sorts...I mean there was Ronald McDonald, which I associated with Happy Meals...I lived near an amusement park called Circus World...which there were always clowns around....and I had fun there.....Needless to say it died...and was turned into a Basesball Park... I digress......
Anyhoo....the point is, I never feared them....When I was pregnant with my son, I was thinking about decorating his room with clowns....that was till my husband had a fit....It was then I found out he had a reall fear of clowns...and I laughed, thinking he was crazy to fear them....needless to say I ended up doing teddy bears.
It wasn't long after that I finally saw Stephen Kings "It"....and then I understood. And then not long after that I saw" Killer Clowns from Outer Space"...see I wasn't a real fan of horror in my younger years... so I was never really exposed to them...but once I saw these movies....I can understand why people would be freaked....
It got me to thinking though...The fact that I was never exposed to the idea of clowns being a scary thing, I wasn't scared... Yet, when exposed to the media containing scary clowns, I think developed an uncomforatble issue with them...So I am wondering, if this study is flawed...If these children already had a predispostion to clowns being scary...wouldn't this study be invalid?
That being said....do they give you the creeps? If they do,......WHY?
