The why not set up your own school... Laugh if you will, but that is exactly what a group of 18 year olds did....They set up thier own school. A group of frustrated German pupils have opened their own school, employing teachers and setting up their own timetables. The school, named the Methodos School, was started by nine pupils who were unhappy about the way they were being taught and with the success rates of their teachers. As a result the final year pupils started their own school, where they felt they would improve their A level exam chances. The young adults from Freiburg, all 18, have rented rooms, employed ten teachers, founded a society and set up a budget. The group will bear the total costs for the school year of £34,000. Their parents have agreed to chip in £10,000, and the pupils hope to find sponsors for the remaining amount. So far the costs are covered by a loan, but "we all carry the risk to have massive debts after our exams," says Alwin Franke, 19, one of the project's organisers. The Methodos project is not for slackers - Franke explains: "We will study in small groups of four or five from 9am to 5pm, six days a week."

That actually seems like a good idea for them (except the six days a week thing. ) I like my school, my teachers are just great, except my homeroom teacher who yelled at me because I couldn't do a survey because I don't have children (I'm 15 for pete sake), but I have great teachers.

I think every school board has it's share of lack-luster teachers. Those w2ho got into the profession, but just don't have that 'teaching bug' in their personality. Unfortunatly, it's the children who suffer because of it. Case in point, the school my son goes to. There is one teacher who, for reasons only known to him, makes a point of singling out several students and generally being degrating to them. My nefew was one of these unlucky students. That 'teacher' almost destroyed any interest my nefew might of had in school, and after several complaints by other parents, he was either fired or quit. Won't find out until the first school council meeting.
As for the article, it's a shame when students have to take matters into their own hands when it comes to education.
