Like something out of the scifi movie, "The 6th Day". If your pet dies, you can even order a cloned replacement. The first order has been placed by a woman from the United States. She will spend $150,000 to clone her pitbull, "Booger". The doctors will use the tissue extracted from its ear before it died. SourceDo you think that this is an ethical situation? Do you think that it an alternative way to play god? A thought on the gross side:...I find it ironic that South Korea would be the ones to offer the option to save a dogs life, when they consider it a delicacy. Could the study and break through actually be a coverup to an alternate means of food source? Don't cringe too much....the U.S. has already approved the cloning of pigs, cattle and what not as a valid food source.

Ever since I read the title I had that movie in mind. I wouldn't clone my pet (if I had one), I don't think it's the right thing to do, no matter how much you loved it. And I do think that in a way it's like playing God, it's just not right. I undrstand and I accept cloning for medical purposes, but not cloning a life form that will actually live.

I wouldn't. It would be the same as me cloning my husband once he died. Cloning something after it's died is just our way of holding on and not letting go. The sad thiing is, there's probably a wonderful dog or cat out there that has been abused that would do well with someone who has this much love to give.

It's not such that I oppose to the cloning itself as the fact that I dont know where it would lead. I mean, giving a deserving being another chance to live is fine, but what next? Making clones of people and giving them superhuman abilities? There are already too many people, what happens when there are more? Also, if one side of the government makes cloning legal, but the other side opposes it, which side will have more people? I dont really think of ethical reasons, but cloning would be very impractical.
