I was reading this article and the idea of "tens of millions" of people dying scares me. All I could think of is Stephen King's The Stand. It is a scary thought to know that something like a cold could wipe out most of the earth's population. According to the above article....around 500,000 to a 1,000,000 people die each year to the flu. That is staggering in itself....but accordning to the article...a human form of bird flu is inevitable and could kill as many as 50,000,000 people worldwide. I do have anouther concern, that scientist will be in such a rush to "stock pile it" that they might not be paying attention to the side effects that might arise from it, short term and long term. I have seen enough movies to know that the best intentions might not always have the best results.
