Warner Bros.-based Legendary Pictures has picked up film rights to adapt the popular fantasy video game franchise World of Warcraft and will develop the project with game publisher Blizzard Entertainment, which is owned by Vivendi.
While the "Warcraft" franchise has been around for more than a decade, the most recent iteration, the megahit online title "World of Warcraft," has transformed the video game industry.
Unlike most games, where players pay $50 once and play until they're done, more than 6 million people around the world pay $14.99 per month to participate in the multiplayer game.
Legendary put up half the money for Warners' Batman Begins and the upcoming Superman Returns.
I have never seen this game myself, but it has a good reputation and I must admit my curiousity it peeked. I hope that they do good by it and make it more serious versus animated or comical...case in point, Resident Evil are decent to good movies....Doom however wasn't my favorite....and could have been alot better....
what are your opnions on this? Have you played the game? Looking forward to the movie?

............MMORPG's do not translate well to movies. There are things that happen in MMORPG's that simply cannot be translated to the big screen ((n00bs)) or things that people simply would not get. There IS no plot to WoW, and so it would make a decidedly BAD movie. Remember the first DnD movie! *shudders* Do we really want a repeat of THAT hollywood monstrosity?!

No Dungeons and Dragon's the first one sucked. Second one was better. Hopefully they try and do a good job. I think though that hollywood with the recent hit of comic books and all know that if they can please the fan's of what they are translating..then they do well box office.
