Rose won't be on Hall ballot in final year of eligibility By RONALD BLUM, AP Baseball Writer November 22, 2005 NEW YORK (AP) -- When it comes to the Hall of Fame, Pete Rose will still be locked out.
Rose won't appear on the baseball writers' ballot in his final year of eligibility because commissioner Bud Selig will not rule on Rose's application for reinstatement before the 2006 candidates are announced Nov. 29, according to Bob DuPuy, baseball's chief operating officer.
Rose, who last year admitted he bet on the Cincinnati Reds while managing the team in the late 1980s, doesn't understand why the rules, unless changed, won't allow him to ever appear on the annual ballot of the Baseball Writers' Association of America.
Do you think that he should be eligiable or not?

Ahh come on. That was a while ago when he did it, and if you'r a sports follower you'll know why they banned him was because of the "Black"Sox's scandel. It was when a bunch of White Sox player's actually rigged the 1919 World Series. 6 of them were banned by the newly appointed commishiner.
People do mistakes and people do wrong things. If they are going to not let Rose in the Hall of Fame then they shouldn't let Ralph Palmero...who while isn't a big name to fan's is one of the better home run hitters and he's taken steriods. At least is clouded in the steriod scandel. Oh, and also should not let Barry Bond's whom is a very top home run hitter as well. Bonds' is a great all around player and same with Ralphie. Rose was a good player and he's been out of the game for a long time. That is punishment enough for a person that actually loves the game. Which I haven't read the book and dont plan on it but if he loves the game being Banned that is punishment enough. Let him be elegable and have the comishiner touch this issue. He's not answer nor talking about it being he's got enough crisis on hand. He had to come up with that agrrement of the Steriod's or let the government come in and take control. Which isn't what anyone wants.

I am torn with my opinion...on one side I see this man who worked hard for this position and rightfully earned his place in the the hall. he is human after all and allowed to make mistakes...everyone one of the members had made mistakes one time or anouther, it was jsut a matter of publicity....yet on the other hand, he is suppose to be arole model for the next generations and well, it isn't a good thing to see him doing this is it? .... Personally, I think they should allow him, he has earned this spot and well they can reveal all his naughty laundry one hollywood story....

Same as Clinton was during his scandel. Why must society Cruicfy people that do a naughty thing? Is it just to sell papers and make money off the regular joe. I'm alluding to newspapers and tv stations. Lots of people gamble on the games. That is around and always will be. Was it bad yeah. But, he has worked hard enough and it's a shame. Another thing also will be a shame is when they induct someone that is actually doing Steroids..and yet won't let Rose in. Wow that will definetly be double standards.

Right......I too think they should add him.....its a shame that one mistake can cause this.....*shakes head* Yeah. Being banned from playing a game...and not being allowed into the hall of fame is well two different things. Yet, alot of players mess up and do stupid things as well..and still allowed in. Look at Michale Irving of the Cowboy's he's a finalist and he just got picked up and charged with drug charges once again. He got in trouble last time with having a hooker in his place and drugs as well. Think there was an illegal gun too.
