Original Article"The next generation dual-core chips were made available today, with Intel craftily beating AMD in the race to get the first multi-core processors out to market. It was a bold move on behalf of Intel, tagging the release of their new processor onto the 40th anniversary of Moore's Law celebrations just days before AMD is set to show their brand new dual-core chip. AMD claim their dual-core processors are built from the ground up. They also say Intel have just stuck two chips together. No doubt it's just playful business banter. So if you feel the need for some more speed, you can grab the new processors in selected units from Dell, Alienware and Velocity Micro PCs. They come with the dual core 3.2 Ghz 840 Pentium Extreme processor installed. "Not only are these PC's dual-core, but they also include Intel's HyperThreading technology, in effect allowing operating systems to take advantage of what appears to be up to four cores/threads," Intel spokeswoman Shannon Love said in an email. "All showcase performance where we believe people want it most--handling multiple tasks at once, such as playing games, downloading music and running virus protection, all at the same time."
