I was listening to the news (FOX NEWS) as I sat here at the computer and a story came on that caught my attention. A girl was suspended from school for giving her freind a hug. OMG.....Huggles should not be punished, they should be encouraged.... Then I got to thinking...when will our children have the right to express themselves without interference of the school system?...Now adays, they can't dress the way they want, they are given uniforms. They can't express themselves religiously the way they want, but are forced to follow a faith of the school. The can't say the things they want, or it could be interpetted as a threat. They can't express themselves through their art the way they want or it is considered a situation of National Security... etc....and now they can't even huggle?
What are we teaching our children? Perhaps it is just me, but I can't help but notice that the freedom of expression is slowly slipping through our nation grasp...the problem I have with this...the education system is trying so hard to take away individuality, a persons right to expression and making them all universal, using the excuse that it takes away temptation...giving me the question, If the school system makes everything universal, how in the heck can they teach tolerance of things that are different? Seems a bit hypocritical. Huggles let us know we mean something to someone.

That's stupid, I always hug my friends. Mostly cause they hug me first. but still, it's true. The schools don't allow us to express ourselves (except my magnet program teachers, but they encourage individuality ). We're not allowed to speak out against something we dislike, a couple of years ago, at my school, the school was trying to send a teacher to another school, many students liked the teacher and had a walk out, they were all suspended for expressing their feelings about the situation. I've had teachers say "I can't talk about that subject with ya'll or I'll get fired" and all that because the schools don't want us hearing certain things. Schools also do not allow clubs for other religions, just for christianity, which, by the way, is not very nice to me in the first place. We're not allowed to go to a teachers classroom during a pep rally unless we sneak there, and I have done that many times, cause I don't like pep rallies, it's just something that people use to get out of class and act like a bunch of crazy idiots. My friend is most likely going to get suspended cause she is writing a letter to our principal about not having to go....well...I think I've gone way too much into detail.
