I was watching the news when it came on that a five students were denied thier diploma because thier parents cheers them at the graduation. Apparently, they signed a paper saying that they wouldn't.... For Full Story click HERE I have never heard anything so messed up....although I shouldn't be surprised. Parents are proud of thier children and support thier children and the students are the ones to pay....For many of years, it has been tradition , a rite of passage for both child and parent...that is the whole point of the ceremony...and now they are doing this. I fail to see how our goverment can allow this...now they are forcing crap like this on its citizens. Unbeleiveable...this is the stuff wrong with our country....they are more worried about things that we have come to know as tradition , instead of worrying more about things that need taken care of, things such as poverty, books...Something is wrong when we are punishing our children for making the honor roll.

Wow they wouldn't like My high school graduations -nods lots- and they should actually get there diploma's. Our principle tried to stop us from doing pranks. The year before at another school handed the principle condoms. All the males did that lmao. Said they wouldn't give us the diploma's which means we wouldn't graduate but there is a law saying that they can't do that. As long as you got the grades it's all good. And if the graduation ceremony takes place after the school year isn't much in the way of "punishment" they can do.

I thought so too...These kids work thier butts off to get good grades and because thier parents cheer for them at thier graduation, they are denied thier diploma....Even if the parents signed a paper, it shouldn't be legal for the schools to do that....I think that certain organizations forget where thier money comes from....the people....taxes....All I can think of is that our society is slowly moving towards the opposite of democracy....

I didn't see the original story, but because there was such a media intrest and outcry because of it, they got their diplomas after all.
But why would you make students sign something statine that your friends or family would not make noise? Who would of thought of that?

Well I think it was silly and rather childish of the school to do what they did, fair enough ban people from bringing things in to the ceremony that cause unnecessary noise ( like air horns etc) but to stop proud family and friends from cheering their loved one on is pathetic.
My Sons school only allows one parent( occasionally 2 if the venue is big enough) to go to award ceremonies, we dont have Graduation ceremonies like in the US or Can, but every year awards are given out for kids out of the whole of the school who have done excellent work or who have done great work for the community. And we are encouraged to cheer for our kids.
