I wouldn't be. this is the first time we'v had student against student violence. The other schools were all men coming into the campus. And to be truthfull and defend we were SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo scared about student vs. student killings that we probably did to an extent forget about or throw to the waist side having people come on campus. You can't guard it like a prison and even if you put camera's in the school's you can put a camera in the bathroom's nor the classrooms themselves.
Which wouldn't be nothing for someone to store a gun or something in a classroom and try and take it over that way. I don't know. I would say this and I would say this to anyone no matter what group or social status if you think or you feel that there is going to be a school shooting scream and shout it. Sometimes and with certain area's...suburb's AND small towns they are going to write it off. It happens. Principle's hear about EVERYTHING. They hear about why Peggy sue beat the crap out of Sue Ann. Mainly because Peggy sue's now ex was doing her at last weekend's party and it got back to her and she didn't take to kindly of that. So thought she'd take the girl down. But, basically tell people and don't stop telling till someone listens.
And the first time student on student violence. I meant since the days of Columbine and those type of things. When you prepare and try and prevent for ONE type of thing generally it's going to be the other that is going to bite you.
At my high school we had a zero policy in place about fights. Even the Principle admitted and said that if he was being attacked he'd fight back..but that he had to have both of us go to jail. Just how it went. We can't have violence. We should be just as tough on violence in schools that are of a fist fight varity as we are with gun's and words and such. Because any type of violence or words said or picking on can lead to this.

I think that there are so many underlying problems with this issue of guns at school, that simply must be addressed further than just putting in metal detectors. I'm Australian, school shootings are sooo incredibly rare, in fact anyone having access to any guns are rare. But it can't just be the access to the guns that make the kids like this (though I'm anti guns, I'm not going to turn this conversation into a debate about that right now), can it? And it certainly can't just be blamed on the teachers. There are things seriously wrong with the whole situation. Funding, mental health, social problems, the 'bad ness' of the area and availability of other schools, punishments for children, law enforcement, and so on... I don't think it's quite time to put all kids in internet schools- that just seems the easy way out.

Well we do have the right to bare arms and that isn't going to change. Mainly because of the NRA and the other political groups. They would shoot down any bill that even whispered talking about that. Mainly because they can and they are heavily and well funded. I didn't know how to use a weapon when I was 9 but if you handed me one or what not I'd have used it. Mainly it's because of bullies people get to the breaking point and the teacher's and all around me...I was off on my own and was truelly alone during that time in my life.

Wouldn't it be better to try and find out why it's happening in the first place?

Wouldn't it be better to try and find out why it's happening in the first place? that means society has to look at it's self. And, to the person said public schools are out the door? -laffs- There will ALWAYS be a public school system. Always. The poorest of the poor will never be allowed inside a private school. And, not everyone will want there kid in one either. I wouldn't. but yeah it means people will have to get real about drugs, and teen and teen lives. And well that is VERYYYYYYYYY hard -mock whinning- Oh and that private kid? He still gets high and drunk on the weekend. And, he also still has the same problems socially. So to think that just taking out public schools is the answer really isn't. Just taking one location and placing things in another. And, no not saying EVERYONE is having sex and getting high. I never had sex during school years nor did I ever get drunk/high. I'v not gotten drunk even to this day and well never been high. I'v taken alchohol but I'm not going crazy with it. But there still will be people doing that because it makes Mommy or Daddy or Teacher and society mad at them. It shocks and appauls them. Every teen rebel's. It's the very nature of being a teen.

I think maybe they were talking about homeschooling (which, I don't think parents should really be doing... well, most of them.) or virtual schools, which just seem... really really a bad idea to me, if everyone went to a virtual school.

I have been told that people that are homeschooled are smarter than students who go to a public school.

I have been told that people that are homeschooled are smarter than students who go to a public school. That depends on the area and how much the public school has in money. Like okay If you compare Richardson ISD to Plano ISD it would be about even. BUT! If you compared those two or just one of those cities to Dallas Texas School District WOW! And especially south dallas -it's the poor area and black area of dallas.- yeah it's bad. What I'm saying is generally the more influential suburb's are WAY better then your big cities. Big Citie's have alot more problems and well they do recruit and what not but like case in my area...Plano and Richardson steal teachers from Dallas ISD. They can offer better pay and well don't have to worry about guns or violence. Even though I do know a middle school in Richardson that is gangland. VERY much gang's. And these are pre-teens. There are alot of factor's that go into it. Public school's don't like homeschooler's mainly because they make no money off of them and homeschooler's can come and join football or Choir or Theatre......or even eat school lunches. All for free. Which really gets the public school's and the people and what not up in arms. Oh and it also too depends on the state. Which regulates what the kids must learn each year. Some of them cheat over all. Meaning I know Indiana tests student's 2 times out of the year. The first time they want them to fail and hten at the end of the year once they learned it...they test them again. LMAO That is there way of getting around No Child Left Behind. There are alot of factor's that come into play with public school. There are alot of loopholes and cuts that have been made and are still being made.

True. And even though they have a disability say early on doesn't mean they can't out grow it or become smarter what not.

Some kids will always be smarter than other students anyway. I feel ya on that one. No-matter how hard I try, I can only seem to maintain a C plus average and I cant seem to go anyhigher no-matter how hard I try.

No-matter how hard I try, I can only seem to maintain a C plus average and I cant seem to go anyhigher no-matter how hard I try. My senior year I tried everything. I went to class and was still failing. So they bumped it down to where F was passing. Don't know if that was smart but I was there every morning and busted my butt. The teacher even said that I was. It's passing so I wouldn't really worry about it. It's passing man. don't fret.

I took the EOC for my English 2 class not to long ago and I failed the class with a 58 average and I made an 87 on the exzam and passed the class with a 70. Later on the teacher told me that I had actually got a 69 overall average so she gave me a 70 and thats how I passed the class, Im so lucky.
