If you could take a pill to erradicate the pain of the the bad things that happened to you, would you take it? VideoAn ongoing study suggests it's a choice that may not be so far off. The drug is called propranolol and it's already used to treat high blood pressure. As Lesley Stahl reports, the prospect of using propranolol to modify memory has some trauma victims filled with hope, and some critics alarmed by the potential for misuse.

Awww I thought this was going to be a pill to help memory....I could sure do with that lol.... I dont think I would want to have my memory tinkered with by chemical means, and I agree this could be open to a myriad of different kinds of abuse.

I think I heard something about a memorry pill back around 9/11. They were talking about how it could save small children from decades of thearpy like the children from the Oklahoma City bombing. However, last I heard, it was something you had to take right after it happened, so you could wait till now and take the pill.

I don't think it would destroy part of your memeory, just block the very painful memorys. But that makes me start to wonder...if they could do that, what about taking it a step further and blocking out a person's entire life? Wolverine syndrome perhaps?
