Now that the writers' strike has come to an end, Variety reports that Universal is moving ahead with a fourth installment of the The Bourne Identity franchise. Though both Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass claimed they were calling it quits after the third installment The Bourne Ultimatum, they have both jumped back on the bandwagon for another film.
I love the movies, but truthfully I am not sure that a fourth movie is needed, not unless they can make it the best. Which in most cases never happens. Do you like the Bourne movies and if so, should there be a 4th movie?

Man I really need to see these movies. Everyone talks about them and I didn't even get to see the first one About the fourth movie rumors: sounds like a bad idea to me. One movie is perfect, 2 is ok, 3 is acceptable, 4 is too much. They'll have to be careful not to ruin the entire series

You really should watch them...Personally, I felt that the movies got better...and it ended really well with the third, it did leave the option for more....but it really isn't needed. What I like about them to is that the trilogy flows like it could be one continuing movie....its that good.

I really want to see them, but they're never on TV at a reasonable time (well, better said it, because I only recall seeing the first movie in the tv guides so far). i'm thinking I'll have to go hunt down DVD rental shops

If Im not mistaken, there was 5 books. However, I do believe they cultivated in the Bourne Ultimatum. However, this new movie will be house written probably, making it more likely to be a disapointment.

ACtually there is only 3 books that were written by Ludlem...Bournes creator. The other 2 are by spin off writers. They were written after the first film and the height of the Bourne craze. I don't know if there good or not. And, actually it doesn't matter because they actually very much are different from the novels. Where as a second asssasin appears in the second book he doesn't in the film and they dual with one another till the third novel. That doesn't happen in the movies.
I think that the Bourne franchise is the best spy franchise we have. I look at 007 and I kinda laugh. He's still such a make believe type of character. Where as with Bourne there is a sense of realism...and with the way they shoot a film it's very much real. I would like to see a fourth one. I think it would be very interesting. Where as now we know about his past..and such. We know that but were to take him now? I think he should go and get the other agent...possible as a lover. They did leave that one open... and I think we should see him at a better place but still maybe darker. Still is room to grow the character into a fourth film.

To be honest, I never knew that they were original novels...lol...but I guess that makes sense. Have any of you actually read the books? How do they compare?
