My Husband dropped a bomb shell on me this afternoon when he got up from sleeping ( hes on night shift) He might be loosing his job, his section of the factory might be moving to a Factory in Hungry ( work force are cheaper over there) which will mean up to 80 men and women being made redundant, it sucks I can tell you! hes been at the place for over 10 years ( having previously worked as a miner) He will find out soon if hes to loose his job in either 3 months or 12 months time. My guts in knotts.

Thanks Aaron, he's been in this situation before when the goverment started to close all the coal mines, he was made redundent then when they shut his pit but at least he got a very large redundancy packet which helped us survive for the 18 months it took him to land this present job. We were hoping he'd be there till he retired *sigh* keeping fingers crossed hes one of the few they will absorb back in to other areas of the factory but it dosent look too good.

I am sorry to hear that... I know how you feel, my husband is a factory worker as well and as it happens works the night shift too. So I Can relate to the worries you have. I hope that things work out, and it doens't happen or that he has anouther job set up...*many huggles*

Thanks Enchant, I'm trying to keep a positive face on in front of him as the last thing he needs just now is a fretting wife, its come like a bolt out of the blue, at least when he was made redundant from his last job the workers were given plenty of warning plus there was a much better redundancy package and the coal board paid for the workers to have training in other jobs, non of that this time *sigh* well we cant change it so will just have to keep our fingers crossed and think positive.

the good news is that he has 3 to 12 months to find another job, just in case.

I was going to suggest him taking some courses. It may sound weird, he might think that he's too old, but the way the world is going, downsizing is the way of the future and employee's how get laid off are unfortunatly left to fend for themselves. I am sorry to hear about this Shoo. How much longer until he retires?

Ah but its a trade and skilled people like that are always in demand, we had a radiator put in and it cost us £80 ($184CAD, $157USD) the cost doubles the neared the capital.
