Did any of you hear about this. They are going to be providing a service, where a gpa warning system in embedded into children cell phones. If the phone comes into a certain amount of distance of a known pediphile it sends an alert to the parents of the phone, it also has a gpa tracking, should the child show up missing...the service is suppose to be costing $20 a month...I am curious to know what your thoughts on this is...
personally I think the idea is great, but I don't think it should be a paid service...but a automatic built in service... what about you?

Well part of Me is saying Big Brother. They could always expand on this idea once it's created for other things. That is the thing with technology. Also too how you going to get it? You going to put something in the person's body with this? If you do that then they'd have to have a court order and be part of there punishment -nods-. Just asking. Nice idea. although I think alot will become even more scared when they see just how many is around them. I don't know.
Oh and I just heard today that it seems a boy in Maine went and killed to known pediphiles. While I agree there crime is bad and that they deserve to be on a list. No one deserves to die over this. But, as government part of there job is to protect people. Even Criminalist that you may want to kill. Is this Cell Phone going to be another way of harrassment to these guys and girls? Can one of them end up in the grave?
There is the legal questions this thing entails and then there is society protection. Protection of them. I don't want to see someone doing what the kid did to these two guys. Yet, don't want to see a kid being abused or molested either.
While you do have to protect yourself and such...with them being out of Prison means the debt to society is paid. Why they are being let go.
Here is an example.
I'm walking down the street. You'r daughter pasts me on My way to the store. I haven't said hello ..nor have I talked to her. I haven't even looked at her. I'm off in my own lil world just trying to get to the store.
The call goes to the parents phone. They wig and since it's only down the street...come down and jump on Me. They call names they even start to get physical. Soon a fight breaks out and then the cops come. Now the question is will they believe the person as it's the truth..or not since they will think I'm lieing.
It's a pretty valid question though. One that I'm sure will happen. There are some people in this world that do live in Laa Laa Land. That Molestor's and rapists and such don't live in there Neighborhood..when they do. When they find out they tend to wig.
Plus too have to wonder will it make the person a requlouse..and also will it add so much pressure that they will molest and rape again? Since everyone will know and he'll be the "monster" of society?
Some of these people probably will never have a chance to actually be "rehabilitated". But, out of those few I'm sure there are some that can be. By putting in the GPA system...are you now taking it from a 50/50 shot down to say a 20 percent chance?
I don't know what the answer is and don't know really what to do. I agree though they did do heinous acts against kids. But, still lots of questions you'd have to ask yourself if ever wanted to do this.

You bring up a valid point, there is always consequences for the actions...those children will have to have it for the rest of their lifes and I dont feel sorry for the phedaphiles, even if they are "reformed" I would still want to know ....as a parent can't help but a appreciate something like this, especially when it comes to my own kids..I would rather be safe then sorry...often too many times, phedaphiles, who were suppose to have paid thier debt are repeated offended....=
I have problems with it being a paid service..

From a parent point of view, I think it's a good idea. Predators have increased in an alaraming rate and I would feel safer if I knew my son's cell phone had that.
It's funny you posted this, hubby and I were just talking about how the obese problem in children may be directly linked to the fact that they don't get enough excersise outside. Why? Because the parents are scarced of their child being taken.

I think the link to that Lady Rell is the TV and News. Everything is sensationalized. The way they would have you believe taking 3 steps outside your door. You'v just been mugged, handcuffed and had your head blown off.
You know personally speaking as a 21 year old person...I think everyone should stop watching the news. You'd find that life isn't as scary as the media would want you to be. Even though I live in the Poor part of the city..and across the street from Mexican's...I'm not scared.

I understand that alot of this is sensationalized, but in the four years that my son has been going to school, there has been two incidents where 'unknown persons' have been hanging around the schools. One girl , she is 12 , was assualted just two weeks ago. AND SHE WAS on shcool property!
I'm sorry. with the way they just slap offenders on the wrists and let them go, I'm never going to feel safe for my son. Or any children for that matter

I remember in Elementary friends and all and a few cases of this. But, it was frew and far between. The ones we had to worry about were the gangbanger's down the street. That I had to walk home each Thursday. I was worried more about those then some guy. Wouldn't think someone would be able to molest a kid on school property. Unless it was a teacher and then I could understand that. We had a case here in Plano even took pics and what not.
Maybe inroll him in Karate? It won't teach the kid to go and fight anything and everything. I was actually pretty serious in saying it. Karate does alot more then just teach you to fight. Even though you know how to ....doesn't mean you go around doing it. It's an Oath you take. Really serious one too.

Though I have a slight problem with the charge, it may be worth it if it saves a child's life.
I know I'd like to have it on my phone. =)
