Matiir reached down to his pendant with obvious hesitation. With her hand still extended, Charity gave a reassuring nod. Don't worry, I will not steal it. She watched him reluctantly grasp the pendant and extended his arm. Matiir held the chain he let the pendent dropped. Charity watched as the pendant hung and twirled at the end of the silver chain to a slow pace. As she reach for it, she noticed that Matiir had tightened his grasp on the chain. Understanding that he had no intention of releasing it, she adjusted herself upright against the rock once more. She slowly reached out and touched the pendent. "Don't worry, you can hold on to it, I just want to look," she said giving a reassuring smile. "It's beautiful." She flipped the pendant over to reveal the ruby eyes.
She had seen the pendant before, but never really looked at it closely. It was heavy for such a small trinket and probably worth a small fortune. Just as she was about to release it, something reflected within the jeweled eyes. Looking closer at them, Charity could feel a pull coming from within them. It was forcing her closer, compelling her to release her mental being. Although, she had little strength left, she fought the urge to go in deeper, causing a small energy jolt to shoot through her body, allowing herself to look away. Instinctively and with self preservation, she quickly released the pendant, pulled her hand back, and stared at Mattir with anger. "What the hell?", she exclaimed. Dark Magic!
"What....What is going on?" Filled with anger, she tried to lift herself off the ground. Something about that pendent sent a jolt through her. "Ask him why he is wearing that pendant?" as she managed to get to her feet. She had suspected that Dark magic was trying to prevent her from finishing her quest, but she didn't want to believe that it was her young companion. Trust no one! The very words that were spoken to her at the beginning of the journey. Shaking her head, "No, I won't believe it" Pointing to Mattir, yet looking at Chestnut she spoke out, "Ask him why he has that around his neck." Inhaling deeply, and filled with uncertainty, "He wears Black Magic".

Matt shivered as she touched it, fighting the urge to pull away and hide it again, keep it and himself safe. But he kept still, watching her closely, warily and waiting for some reaction, anything that might tell him what she planned to do. He frowned as Charity looked more closely at it, bringing it nearer and nearer to her face until she jerked her gaze away and dropped it, fear scent suddenly burgeoning around her along with the harsh scent of anger.
Acting instinctively, he caught the pendant up in his hand and clutched it to his chest, hissing a soft warning against whatever Charity was about to do. But, she wasn't doing anything except trying to stand, and staring at him oddly while she threw words at Chestnut. Matt glanced quickly over at Rasha to find that his mother was staring back at him, still rather confused by all the strange things her son and this human female were doing. No, she would be of no help in this instance.
It was this amulet she did not like, well, he did not like it either, and he eyed it with distaste even as he tried to see what it was she was saying it was. He shrank away from Charity's anger, feeling strangely discouraged by it, though he couldn't understand why. He didn't understand any of this, he just wanted to be cat again, not human, that was all. A choked off whimper escaped Matt's throat while he looked from the woman to the horse, then he tried to think at Chestnut, though he didn't know if she would catch his questions. -What black magic? Why's Charity frightened/angry?-[/b]

The Shire looked to Raban. He shrugged and she snorted lightly.
The first she sent to Matt at his worried mind speech.
~Calm, Matt. She fears black magic. Black magic is done by dark, evil people who tend to use it only for bad things. Explain this pendent to me. Does it keep you as a human like state? Is that all it does?~

Leaning against the rock, trying to remain upright, she watched as the steed focused on Matiir. Matiir appeared to be confused and uncertain as to what was going on. It was in that moment, that she realized that he wasn't the one wielding the dark arts. Therefore, he must somehow be the victim of it. She thought about how he would transform when the amulet was removed. She looked curiously at Chestnut, "Ask him if the pendant has something to do with him transforming." She then shifted her eyes to Matiir, then to his mother, then to Chestnut, " Then ask him if he is human, feline, or halfbreed." A certain amount of calm settled on Charity, realizing that her companion wasn't being deceptive. However, she remained cautious, as dark magic was tricky, illusive and with alternative motives.

Matt was, needless to say, incredibly confused by Charity's reaction, and Chestnut's explanation didn't help him much. He didn't think his master hd done terrible things, not really. Sure he'd been harsh and had hurt others, but he'd never done any harm to Matiir, well, he'd made him human, but that was all. But now at least everyone was thinking about the pendant, and they were on the right path to what it did too, although he was reluctant to tell them the rest.
He shivered and shrank down lower, though that should have been impossible, but then Rasha was there at his back, purring her reasuurance and letting him know that she wouldn't leave him until he left her. But then Charity made that comment about halfbreeds, and he sat up straight with an indignant snort. -I am bloodcat! Halfbreed, hah, no halfbreeds possible. Human...- The last thought was full of disgust at the very thought that Charity had come up with such an idea, and was accompanied by a cold stare in her direction. But it didn't last long, after all, that didn't tell them any more than they'd already figured out.
-Is magic. Make me human, yes? Keep like this and need words to change back, called spell, yes?-[/b] He hesitated then, not wishing to reveal the weakness that the pendant brought about if one knew how to use it, which he most certainly didn't, but animals do not understand lies, misdirection perhaps, but in most instances, it was straight forward talk between them, and he had no wish to start learning more human habits now.
-Is binding me to human, but master dead now and master's boy dead too. Not bound now. No more!-[/b] His thoughts held an undercurrent of bitterness and distaste that grew into a firm statement and an almost threat. He had no wish to obey without thought, that was no way for a cat to live.

Charity watched as Matiir mind spoke to Chestnut. Watching Mattir try and comprehend the steed, she could see that he was going through a couple of emotions, just by the expression and mannerism of his face. He didn't look happy. On the contrary, there was frustration, a sadness, a deep longer and even a bit of anger. It was obvious as he gripped the pendant, that somehow they were bound together. She waited for the two to finish and hoped that Chestnut would enlighten her to what was going on with Matiir, the pendant and the use of such powerful dark magic.
As she waited, she glanced up as she inhaled. Fire burning within her lungs reminded her that she was hurt. The whole convo wasn't in the best of shape. But so much time had passed. They need to get moving soon. The shadow guards were most definately behind them and who knows what else was following them or even watching them. She could see that they were close to the base of the mountain, the forest barrier would soon end and they would soon have to find a way over or throuh the mountain.
"We need to be going soon. What is he saying?", she asked trying to get the conversation to move along. We don't have time for this.

Chestnut listened to Matiir before turning to Charity,
He is a Bloodcat... he's trapped inside a human form... the necklace. It binds him in this form. Victim of Black magic it appears. No threat. It needs a spell to unbind him.
Raban agreed, his wolf-like head nodding emphatically as he dropped down from the canopy above. He looked at Charity for a moment.

Matt couldn't hear any of what Chestnut told Charity, though he tried to hear it nonetheless, mostly so he could know what the woman thought about the whole thing without have to wait. But as he waited, the youth's expression was also turned upwards to the woman, and it was full of hope. He didn't know if she could undo what had been done, didn't even know if she'd try, but hope was really all he could think of right then, dissapointment was not something he even wanted to contemplate. He had been rather young when the master had caught him and had had even less understanding of magic than he did now, so he had not realised that he would be stuck as a human when he'd submitted quietly to the spell. Now, of course, he regretted it.
While all this went on, Rasha was watching with some trepidation and curiousity, trying to figure out what was being conveyed, but all the great cat could pick up on were the emotions of them all. She was not, however, so afraid to miss something that she wasn't keeping a weather eye on the wolf-man. He wanted watching he did, what with how he was of the same race as those others and how he was healing so quickly. Rasha snorted softly and lifted her lips ever so lightly back, not in threat or even in warning, just to show what she thought of this entire situation. She was, currently, lying down at Matiir's back, stretched out and wary, her scarlet eyes following the motions all the others madewith an intensity that could have been fightening had she kept her gaze on any one of them for long.

The steeds thoughts filled Charity's mind. She now understood why sadness seem to linger in the eyes of her young companion. She also began to understand why the pendant was so precious to him. Poor thing.
"Who would do such a thing and why?" she had asked rhetorically. She then looked at Mattir, with empathy and concern. "I do not know what I can do to make it go away." She shook her head sympathetically and shrugged her shoulders, "I am not a mage, I am nobody, I am just a soldier, nothing more." She realized that she had said more then she intended to, as she glanced at Chestnut and then Raban. It was not her intention to allow them to know that she was an elite warrior. Although, they wouldn't have known it in her current condition. "I have only been trained in earth magic by a friend and mage magic from the military." As soon as she finished her sentence, she had an epiphany, "The Elves!" she scooted her self upon the rock again. She looked at Mattir with the intent to give hope, "The elves, might be able to help us." The only problem was, she had no idea where the location of the elven nation was.
The Elven Nation was allied with the Military Elite. They agreed to train some of the elite with their abilities of magic. Charity had been assigned an elven instructor, his name was Lithel. Lithel was tall, handsome, and very stern with Charity. He was very hard on her, making her work twice as hard as the other elite. She once asked, why he didn't like her, and the only response she got was him closing his eyes and shaking his head. When practice session began the next day, Lithel never showed up.
Looking into Matiir's eyes, she smiled, "We will try and see the elves." Then she thought about the mission and the scroll. I have a few things to discuss with them as well.

Raban peered at Charity with a curious gaze as he heard he speak of what she was, and perhaps should have been capable of. Either way, speaking with the Elves might prove beneficial to their situation and arguing over a minor detail could wait.
Chestnut appeared to be thinking, as far as thinking could go for a demon stuck inside a horse. For her, it wasn't a question of a spell. For her it was something else that would not show itself or its silent answers. After a time she snorted, tossed her head peering at Raban who only growled in response.
Raban can lead the way. He knows their scent. He also asks if the elder feline is coming along with us. I will forward this to Matiir now... she spoke to Charity first before her heavy frame shifted and repeated the information to Matiir, her head dropping gracefully to be level with his own.

Matiir was, of course, rather deflated by Charity's admition to being unable to help him, and it showed in how his shoulders drooped and he lowered his gaze to stare, disconsolately at the ground. So, it was with some trepidation that he shot upright again, straightening so quickly that his movement and the woman's exclamation combined to startle Rasha into an undignified scuttle away from them both. Then she sighed with what was quite obviously exasperation with the ways of the two-leggeds, of which her son was, unfortunately, now one of. At least for the time being, she hoped.
Matt had no idea who these elves were, but if they treated so well with humans and might help him dispense with this cumbersome body, then he was certainly willing to look for them. There was, of course, the slight problem of Charity's original mission, but, being still mostly cat in his thoughts, Matt did not think of that as a problem, nor did he realise that Charity might think so. Instead, his expression brightened and a smile spread swiftly across his face before he realised he was baring his teeth and closed his lips over them. Had he been capable of noise, he would have been purring his pleasure at such a solution. It seemed smart to him at least, particularly since it was the logical thing to do. If you didn't know how to do something, find those who could. Although that finding might be a problem...
When Chestnut passed on the information he nodded in aquiesence, since that too made sense, he certainly wouldn't know the way to these elves. But he didn't bother to ask for a description, since he would find out eventually once they found them. Instead, he sinply answered her question, with a nod and a bit of elaboration in his thoughts. -Rasha will come, but only to edge of territory, else she lose land to others like wolf-men-things, like Raban, or other bloodcat.... Where now? Still to mountain?-[/b]

They all agreed, they would search for the Elven Nation and they would be relying on the tracking abilities of Raban. Using the large rock behind her as both support and leverage, Charity struggled to lift herself up off the ground. The pain was almost more then she could bare as she slid her feet beneath her. She could feel the heat flowing within her, just waiting to erupt. From what she could ascertain, she had several broken ribs, a couple of sprains and more bruises and cuts then any one person should be used to. Although she had been in worst shape once before and highly doubted if this would be the last. She had a tendency to get herself into trouble.
"We should be going." she grunted, now standing on her feet with one arm wrapped around her stomach attempting to grip the pain, and the other leaning against the large rock. "We have wasted too much time as it is." She then looked around at all the death on the ground and shook her head, "These carcasses are going to draw unwanted attention when the vulchers start swarming."
As her eyes circled the small group, she noticed that Mattir seemed to be hopeful and Raban seemed to be resolved. Good. She looked over at Chestnut and focused into her eyes, hoping that the brave steed would understand. With a slight glance to Raban, then back at Chestnut, I cannot make this journey without healing. I can craft a healing spell for myself, but I cannot walk and do it at the same time and we do not have time to do it here.
She took one more glance back at the group as she waited for confirmation from Chestnut. She was uncertain as to what would happen once they reached the Elven Nation. The only things she knew for certain were, that she never met up with her contact in Paladin City and that the Elven Nation were allies with the Military Elite and hope that they would be one in the same. She also knew that they would still beheading toward the mountain. They were destined to walk the mountain and eventually face the Flesh mongers or eventually walk the base and enter wood nymph territory and possible the forbidden swamp, a place rumored to be where no one ever returned. Yep, we are screwed.

She is welcome for as long as she can be with us. We will be heading a little to one side of the mountain... Raban knows the way. He'll lead us there, she replied to Matiir first, her head nodding a little in her reassurance.
She then turned and walked so that she was next to Charity as Raban sniffed the air before he moved about, and dug furiously, spreading dirt and other leaf litter over the corpses. It was clear he still understood human tongue whilst in his lycan form. The dirt would help to cover the scent. It wouldn't stop anyone from smelling it if they were trained or looking out for it but it would delay followers.
Ride me then Charity. Raban won't wait too long and he moved quickly in his lycan state. I will help you, she replied to Charity, her large liquid eyes looking to the injured woman.

Pleased that they now had somewhere they were set on going, rather than, just the mountain, although he'd been pleased enough to be headed that way as well, Matiir pushed himself to his feet, using Rasha as a support before he hobbled over to Charity. If she had to, he would stand still and she could use him as a support. He'd seen others do it, and was certain he could manage, just so long as she didn't push him over. Besides which, she'd offered to help him onto Chestnut when he needed to ride her, now he could try to help her, although it might be a little more awkward since he was too short to lift her and probably couldn't have managed irt properly anyways.
He let hia mother keep an eye on Raban and the surrounding forest for the both of them, since she would warn him of any approaching danger and would likely sense it long before he did anyway. As soon as Charity was settle, or as settled as it look like she would be. Matt shook himself out and sighed, then looked about to see where Raban had gotten to and where he might be planning on taking them.
((sorry, short post and long wait. My bad))
