Because candidates are controlled by their party. Simple.

Basically in a nut shell they are both extreme. Right's got the religius nut bags of all shape and sizes and the left's got people that want to take there views into extremes. Both though are wrong and really do have no real hope. Although, it doesn't mean that a politician won't come along and exploit those extremes to get elected or start whatever the want. Rofl. When your talking about extremes, and you really want to sound anything but biased, try talking objectively. Whoever said they wanted to stay close to communism should read about the Cold War, and then should go pick up a history book on China. After that if you still want to become part of the 'peoples government', go for it. But its not gonna start in America. Anybody who feels fascism is safer, go read about nazi germany, the past two world wars, and a personal thing on hitler. If you still want to base your political orientation on just that, go for it. Its not going to start in America. Point is its pretty silly to think about something as abstract as political extremes to determine your orientation, more or less thinking (if I ride in the plane ill die a quick death, but if I ride in a boat ill drown). This is a problem, since it rules out the future. What is the future of the country? So far weve had quite a bit of political mudlsinging, and empty pledges on both sides, but where is the country going? You cant base your desicions on the extremists of the situation, youll find out that either side thinks the other is completely extremist, and becuase of this we get guys like me and Aaron on here ranting at each other day after day and not listening to one thing the other is saying. Just do me a favor, and think before you vote? Its not elections for communism or fascism, its election for republican or democrat. So think. I'm not saying that it is for communism and fascism? You don't want me to dwindle this down to what it is at least in my eyes. Our system doesn't allow or work well at this point in time to having more hten two choices. I know I would LOVE to have a third party that had a chance but they don't.
