Classic Rock, Southern Rock, and Country.
Ah man, to pick one would be too darn hard. My favorite bands are The Doors, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and one metal band that is heavily influenced by Iron Maiden, and that is Iced Earth. All of these bands are tied equally. The Doors though...they seem to be on a little higher level then the rest. But not by much.

If he is starting to get into country rock, have him listen to some Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company, 38 Special, or even some Molly Hatchet. Those are great bands, and many consider them to be country rock or southern rock. I'm also a big fan of those bands.

hmmmm. really I'll listen to anything, if it's good (I love saying that, it makes no sense if you really think about it).
If I HAD to choose, I'd say something like either Soundgarden, Radiohead, or Madness. With a possibility of Supergrass. If someone can find a proper connection between all those bands in terms of Genre, I will eat my hat.
although the funny thing is they're all probably described as rock!

I am, and forever will be, a Headbanger. I remember the 'Hair Metal' bands quite well, had some of their records. Also had a few 'Death Metal' albums as well. Yes I said albums. But my favorite band will always be............. [glow=red,2,300]JUDAS PRIEST[/glow] All others pale in comparison.

I'm too indescive to pick one genre. I'll listen to pretty much anything except negative rap.
That's kinda a cheap answer. . . . If I'm alone in the car I'll usually have the radio on something that plays 80's-90's music, country, or oldies. Actually, not so-much the oldies anymore since the oldies station shifted their songs to a decade forward, I consider oldies to be 40s-50s-early 60s, and now they're playing early 70s or something. If there's a commercial on all of those stations, I'll switch over to the pop station for a song or so. My CD collection has a bunch of country (but most of it's a few years old), Five Iron Frenzy, Demon Hunter, and soundtracks (mostly the kind that have the musical scores, not the kind where they played a minute of this song during the credits and the rest just sound really cool).
My current band of obsession is Demon Hunter. Don't know exactly why, but they're the hardest thing I got and I've just been in that mood lately.
