The sun was setting, and the people of the small village were going about their business. Life was good for them, and nothing odd or bad ever happened to them, it was almost like God had been blessing them or it was simply a good dose of Karma. Course they would never forget the night when a man appeared from a hole, and would forever change their lives for years to come. Electricity and winds picked up in an area of the Village Center, a few visitors that were there, wondered what was going on. One screamed when a hole opened and a man came from it. He walked out with rage in his eyes and blood on his armor and sword. 2 of the visitors ran, while others stood to their spots transfixed on the spot. And when he began to roar rather loudly for a human, did they ran. And he soon fell to his knees with tears in his eyes. "Where am I now?" Is all that he said aloud and to no one.

The entire village grew quiet when his roaring stopped, for all had run to their homes and shuttered their windows, locked the doors. Every last one was likely cowering in a corner with their loved ones, muttering hasty prayers to the Lord, for the deliverance of their town and of themselves. For the quick removal of whatever, whoever it was that had appeared suddenly. All of them, that is, safe one. She stood in a narrow lane that stretched out directly in front of the man, her fey, green eyes staring at the distressed warrior with all too much knowledge and solemnity. Had it not been for the howling wind that tore at her dark hair and heavy cloak, she could have been described as a statue, for not a muscle did she move. Her frame was silhouetted by soft moonlight, now barely peeking through the clouds above, and although she appeared fragile and barely arrived into womanhood, her belly was beginning to swell with the telltale signs of bearing a child. The woman was a traveller, but she journeyed alone, her lover gone and none willing to accept her. She had thought to buy a night's rent at the local inn and be on her way in the morning, things changed. The strange man who crouched in the Square before her, was a frightening sight, but she had seen worse in dreams and visions. Carefully she spoke, knowing that it was only between her and him now. He seemed crazed and deadly, covered in blood and armed with a sword. She was equally crazed for she stood there now, showing no fear for either her or her unborn, yet she was small, unarmed and tired. "You are safe. You are among those who fear you. You are with one who would ask your name." Raiah tried hard to keep her voice from trembling with fear as well as anger. What had these people done to deserve such a fright? But somehow, she managed it, keeping her voice calm and soothing. ((Sorry if you were waiting for someone else, hope you don't mind my butting in Oh and I'll be leaving day after tomorrow for quite a while, though hopefully I might have brief and rare excursions to the internet. If you haven't replied by the time I leave then feel free to ignore the above post.))

ooc:lol no worries, I'll wait for as long as I have too. And I was hopin' for anyone to join.
bic: Lyconus paid no attention to the new comer as he sobbed openly. The woman and child that he loved was gone from him and he doubted he would be given another chance to go back to the past. "CURSE YOU FATES!" He bellowed out. While he sobbed, the girl's question crept into his mind. He chuckled sardonically. "Safe? Ha ha ha.. that is a laughable notion. And these humans are smart to fear what they don't understand. As for my name... I am Lyconus."

Raiah flinched back quite obviously at his shout, her green eyes becoming worried, but not for herself, she was worried about the man who acted in almost pure despair. Yes, she could read him, though she did not know why he was despairing, for she would not read a mind unless it meant hurt to those she loved... not many fell into that category. She could not calm him unless she was touching him, and that she had not the courage to do. His words confused her however.
"If it is not safe, then why do you kneel on the ground, a position hardly meant for protecting oneself? Are you saying I am stupid, for I stand here alone before you? No matter your state of mind, an insult is not what I was expecting." Raiah laid a protective hand on her stomach, unsure of how these words might affect himm hoping they might snap him out of the mood he was in. Hoping too that his reaction would not be the one she would expect of such a strange man.
"My name is Raiah, if you care to know. Come now, we should get you out of here, by morning they may have worked up the courage to harm you, I doubt I will be spared and I will not risk my child for your sake. I hid my stuff outside of town, there is a stream nearby and you need to get cleaned up. Either come now, or go on your own. I would like it if you came, then I can keep an eye on you, besides you seem capable of defending yourself, I cannot and they are long days on the road. Company would be nice."
She spun around and began to walk back to the outskirts of town, hoping that he would follow her, but not looking back. Her steps were confident and well balanced, contradicting her words about being unable to defend herself, for she walked with an air of one unafraid of anything.

Lyconus considered her words, even though the way he was feeling a blood bath was not something he wanted to cause. He rose in a shaky manner and began to follow her. Albeit, at a rather slow pace due to how he was feeling at the moment. Despite the blood on his body, he could smell another scent on the woman and felt that he too would be keeping an eye on her as well as her keeping an eye on him.

She walked out of the town, leaving the houses behind and entering a dark wooded area, the path here was less well taken care of, a few weeds growing up from the gravel and dirt, the branches hanging overhead and blocking out much of the sun. To the townspeople it probably seemed a cursed place, for who could tell what lurked in the shadows, but to Raiah it was protection. The trees gave her shelter and places where she could hide. The animals and plants provided her with food and herbs should she be hurt. Contrary to believe there were no boars, no bears, no panthers. The place was a paradise and Raiah had stayed for quite a while within its depths already, though her restless spirit was telling her it was time to move on. The trip into town had been to spent a night in civilization and hoppefully purchase a horse. Lyconus had changed that, for now the folk in the town would likely have nothing to do with her.
By the time she heard the stream's babbling song, she was already growing tired, but she didn't let it show because she knew that Lyconus followed. The pregnancy was already taking its toll, at one time she could have walked all day without exerting herself, she didn't know how she would manage in the later months. She could only hope that she would find another forest like this one, where she could stay until her daughter was born. And yes she knew it for a girl child, she had seen it in her visions.
"The stream is cool, but clear and running smoothly, you can undress and bathe here, where it is deeper. I will be upstream resting if you need me." She nodded curtly and then did as she had said she would, walking briskly up to where she had left her pack. However, her plan to reattach her knife to her sash went unrealized as she sat down to rest. The child was growing quickly within her, far too quickly for any human child. Then again, the father had not been human, and it was to be expected. Raiah only hoped that Lyconus would be helpful to her in the future, even her pride did not stop her from admitting to herself that she would need all the help she could get.
A small smile crossed her face as she remembered her lover, not her husband no, for such a man was not the type to be tied down to a wife. He had loved her, of that she had no doubt, but his kind had taken him back, while her kind had rejected her for his affections. It was well worth it she knew, for she was glad to have loved him and content with her life. Now she only needed to make room for Lyconus in that life, and perhaps he could make room for her. It was bad enough travelling alone, but travelling with a companion who had no place or time for her would be much, much worse.

He nodded at her words and instead of taking the time to take his clothing off, walked straight into the water where he looked down into the water as he stood in it. His mind still on his wife and child, as well as the battle he went through before coming here. His mind was also focusing on the woman he met. She seemed to think that humans were against her.

Carefully, Raiah turned over and grabbed at her pack, pulling it closer to her. Having regained some of her energy she now undid the top flap and pulled out her knife. Settling it neatly in her sash, she reached inside the bag once more. A small pot, a packet containing powder, flint and steel were placed on the ground beside her. Picking up the pot, she heaved herself to her feet, using a branch and made her way to the stream. The water here was sweet and clean, so she did not hesitate to fill the pot with it, calling out to Lyconus as she did so.
"Come now, you've had long enough, surely you are not that dirty. I am t-" she gasped as her unborn kicked inside of her, and placed a loving hand upon her swollen stomach before starting again, "I am tired, and need your help in gathering fire wood. Please hurry, I and my unborn are hungry and the soup cannot be made without a fire."

There was a soft chirrup from beside her, more like a clicking of the tongue than anything else. The leaves rustled on the bushes as if they were protesting her statement about wood, but it wasn't them moving the leaves, indeed, a head poked out looking around. Her eyes glowed gently with a night predator's gaze and she looked Raiah up and down, as if assessing the situation. Suddenly, she ducked back out of sight, only to appear moments later coming around the base of a tree, a full load of wood in her arms. It was an ungainly armful and upon reaching the lady she let it fall to her feet.
She was still growing and incredibly small, not quite half the height of Raiah, though it was obvious that she was not a young child, for her movements were coordinated and smooth, besides her eyes were not innocent and she most certainly did not have the same confidence a human child her size might show with strangers. Indeed, she darted back to the relative cover she had abandoned, moving quickly and completely silent but for the whispering leaves. If Raiah was observant, she would have noticed that the girl wore a simple tunic and had a long hunting knife as her sole possesions. She might also have seen the shy smile Enya had flashed her before dissapearing.
((hope ya don't mind my joining in))

ooc:nope, don't mind at all and I apologize for not bein' around.
bic: Lyconus did as he was asked, he figured it'd be polite of him to do so as he tried to gain back his bearings. Any other time though, his senses would alert him to everything that was going on. But this wasn't any of those other times. About 20 minutes later he got the requested items and started a fire.

ooc- I donèt mind on either account (joining or taking awhile ) Raiah started as the tiny woman peered out of the bushes and was no less surprised when she came forward later with a load of wood in her arms. However, she was not shocked enough to miss the smile that passed across the little one's features and returned the gesture to the figure's retreating form. Lyconus returned then and Raiah quit smiling, not wishing to look like a complete idiot in front of him. Well, at least he could start a fire, Raiah reasonned that taking him with her had been a good idea after all. Now if he could hunt as well, she would be well provided for once the pregnancy had gone much farther and she would find it quite difficult to do anything. She knew these things well, as she had once been a healer where she came from and had helped in many births among other things. Her eyes closed and she heaved a great sigh, looking to the man who had followed her without question, he was not her lover, but she owed him something of an apology for how she had treated him. "I am sorry to have been so harsh and sharp with you. I am uncomfortable amidst many humans and your appearance did nothing to help my mood. I hope you can forgive me," a small smile and once more she was back to her old self, "while at the same time, grab some powder from my bag and make some soup. Enough for four would be about right, though I do not know how much you eat, I will eat for two and we have a little friend hiding nearby. She might be enticed out by the food." While she spoke, Raiah decided that she actually didn't want Lyconus rummaging through her bag and did that bit herself. She pulled forth a small packet and unwrapped it, some yellow-ish powder sat on her palm and she picked up a couple pinches with her other hand. It was not long before the package was wrapped back up, the powder sitting on her open palm, while she held a pot out to Lyconus with the other, "Water, if you please?"

The 'little friend' hadn't gone far and could easily hear what was being said. She looked down on the two from a thick branch, having reached it in one leap, she was quite unafraid of what should happen if she fell, indeed, Enya felt right at home. She crept out towards its end with one last glance at her soul friend who waited down below, he would only show himself if she called him forward. These two drew out her curiousity, besides, she had watched Raiah before and knew of her woodsy knowledge. Her toes gripped tight and her hands were wrapped around the bark. Enya was almost above them when little flakes decided to be shaken loose, spiralling down in a small bark shower.
Hissing softly, she froze, trying to hide behind the considerably smaller branch in case either one looked up. She wouldn't have minded but for the man she had never seen before, he could very well offer a danger she couldn't protect herself from. Still, Enya stayed where she was, moving now would only attract their attention even more and that was not what she wanted. Her muscles tensed as she eyed the distance to the ground and then to the dense cover on the forest floor. If they did see her, she would be ready to run and hopefully in an unexpected way.

Lyconus leaves again to get more water. Once he comes back he gives it to her. "Having me do this for you helps to keep my mind occupied. And if we have a visitor then all I can say is... COME ON OVER HERE!" He bellowed out and sat down. "I am not hungry at the moment so do not worry about me."
